"Virtual" Freshman Orientation

It is with great disappointment that this year’s Freshman Orientation WILL NOT be conducted as it has been in the past. Due to the amount of uncertainty and unrest, it has been decided that the orientation will be conducted via “ZOOM” website. Although not the desired course of action, not to mention the inability for the cadets to get actual “on-hands” experience of the camp, this will now allow parents the ability to sit in on some of the sessions and get a better perspective of what the program is all about.
Please understand that the purpose of this orientation is not ONLY to introduce incoming cadets to what the program is about and what to expect this coming school year. It also gives our new leadership the opportunity to teach and lead. Our program is a “Leadership Laboratory” designed to develop young students into mature, responsible, and productive citizens of our society. Our program is a “cadet ran unit” steeped in Navy and Marine Corps customs and traditions. So, there may be a little nervousness on behalf of our leadership during their presentations, which is to be expected; they’re students. They are working hard to ensure a productive and meaningful orientation is hosted. But I would also like to remind you that some of your students will be in the same situation a few years from now if they stick with the program.
For those who “digitally” attend the orientation in its entirety (we will be taking roll every morning prior to instructions), will be recognized at the beginning of the school year in front of their class and receive a t-shirt, water bottle, and other knickknacks at the beginning of the school year…FREE OF CHARGE. So those who have already mailed in there registration fees, those fees will be refunded to you at the beginning of the school year. All checks will be held as well.
Please know we will do the best we can to ensure the same quality of instruction is presented during the “virtual” orientation. Again, we understand that this is not the desired method of delivering our orientation, but there are just too many uncertainties at this time. This school year will certainly require a lot of patience and flexibility, but we’ll get through it. Thank you and I look forward to next week and meeting your students both virtually and eventually in person. Please email me if there are any questions. Take care and stay safe. “Zoom” link for Tuesday, 14 July has been sent. If not, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
